26 November, Stavanger, Norway

This week, ColdSpark® partners organised the ColdSpark® Final Event & Demonstration. Hosted at the University of Stavanger, SEID AS and Europroject, the event marked a key milestone in the project’s 3.5-year journey to develop cold methane splitting as a clean pathway for producing hydrogen and high-value eCarbon®.

The ColdSpark® consortium presented the project’s major achievements in all work packages, including advances in non-thermal plasma methane splitting, the utilisation potential of eCarbon®, the Life Cycle Assessment results examining environmental performance and the project’s position within the wider policy landscape.

Stakeholders expressed deep appreciation for both the scientific progress and the market implications of methane splitting. Many highlighted that the outcomes of ColdSpark® address pressing industrial and environmental needs, reinforcing the importance of continuing research and development beyond the project’s official end date. A dedicated Slido session invited the audience to raise broader questions about the future of methane splitting technologies, integration into existing energy systems, and the role of plasma-based innovations in Europe’s clean energy transition.

Although formally serving as a closing one, the event did not mark the end of the ColdSpark® journey. Instead, it highlighted the beginning of a new and promising chapter of further development of methane splitting and bringing it closer to the market.

The strong engagement demonstrated that ColdSpark® has evolved for beyond a single research project. It is shaping an emerging innovation pathway supported by industrial relevance, stakeholder demand, solid scientific foundations, and clear market opportunities.

The consortium extends its sincere thanks to everyone who joined the event and contributed to a constructive and forward-looking discussion.
