In April 2025, the ColdSpark team submitted a proposal requesting 8 million EUR to further develop our cutting-edge Cold Methane Pyrolysis technology.

The call was extremely competitive, with only one project selected for funding out of 14 eligible proposals. While ColdSpark Phase II was not selected in the first round, it was placed on the reserve list after scoring well above the evaluation thresholds, marking a clear endorsement of the project’s quality and relevance.

We received the STEP seal, awarded by the European Commission, as a clear recognition of the proposal’s excellence in terms of impact, implementation, and scientific quality. This quality mark recognises projects that significantly contribute to the EU’s strategic objectives in clean technology and industrial innovation. The STEP seal enhances the visibility of ColdSpark within the EU innovation landscape and may facilitate access to complementary or combined funding sources.

We are grateful to all partners who worked hard in preparing the proposal, our supporters, and the funding bodies for this recognition — and we remain committed to advancing ColdSpark’s vision:

  • Clean and cost-efficient hydrogen
  • High-value elemental carbon
  • A climate-neutral industrial value chain

This is only the beginning.
