ColdSpark® Project to be Featured at LCM 2025 Conference in Palermo, Italy

We are excited to announce that the ColdSpark® project will be presented at the 12th International Conference on Life Cycle Management (LCM 2025), scheduled from 9th to 12th September 2025 in Palermo, Italy.
LCM 2025 is a premier forum for environmental, economic, and social sustainability, focusing on practical solutions for implementing life cycle approaches in strategic and operational decision-making across various sectors, including science, industry, NGOs, and public institutions.
ColdSpark® project will be showcased with a presentation titled “Biomethane Splitting: Unveiling the Regulatory Barriers to Biohydrogen and Carbon Removal Potential” by Isabella Bulfaro from the Catalonia Institute for Energy Research (IREC). Main points to be explored include:
- The potential of ColdSpark® technology to revolutionise sustainable hydrogen production through methane and biomethane splitting.
- A cradle-to-gate Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of ColdSpark®’s Non-Thermal-Plasma methane splitting process, highlighting its efficiency and carbon footprint implications.
- The regulatory barriers affecting the recognition of solid carbon as a viable carbon removal pathway, comparing frameworks such as the UK Low Carbon Hydrogen Standard and EU hydrogen regulations.
- The role of harmonised standards in unlocking the full potential of biohydrogen as a decarbonization solution for hard-to-abate sectors like steel, cement, and heavy transport.
With greenhouse gas emissions ranging from 2.4 to 1.1 kg CO2eq/kgH2 depending on the defined efficiency range when implemented in Norway , ColdSpark® demonstrates a transformative approach to biohydrogen production with valuable e-carbon® co-benefits.
